TABOO
on Broadway

Boy George and
Rosie
O'Donnell team up to bring the musical "Taboo"
to Broadway. O'Donnell
insists that she and Boy George
are very much alike. The former talk-show diva is the producer and
sole investor in the $10 million show, opening Nov. 13 at the Plymouth
Theatre.
"I always think: Go big or go home," said O'Donnell.
She saw the show during its London engagement, which had a 15-month run.
"It's "Hairspray" meets "Rent" or "Cabaret" or "Chicago" or "Pippin" or
"Dreamgirls" "Taboo"
celebrates the vulnerable human spirit."
"Taboo"
is based on the adventures of the flamboyant, free-spirited chap in swinging
London. The Boy
himself created the show drawing on his experiences as part of the
early `80s club scene that spawned his band, Culture Club.
Many aspects of the London production remain intact. Boy
George plays the outre performance artist
Leigh Bowery, a role he took over toward the end of the West End run.
