FEMDOLL ANATOMY

SIDESHOW Buffy & DML (DRAGON) 1:6 female bodies

L to R: SST "Faith", DML "Lihn" (Eve 1.0), SST "Willow", DML "Heather (Eve 2.0), SST "Buffy (Hush)"

Other bodies: Hasbro GI Jane (Classic Collection), Blue Box Toys/Takara Cy Girl/Perfect Body

1. Height comparison. The first Buffy is the tallest and is comparable in height to many of Sideshow's male figures (i.e., scaled to be 5'10", roughly). The latest Willows (Vampire Willow, Willow) and "Prophecy Girl" Buffys use the shorter SST female body, scaled to about 5'6". It's still just a bit too tall for a Buffy figure (SMG is 5'3"), but is certainly an improvement over the Hush Buffy's stature. For an even shorter body, you can look to either an Eve 1.0 (which has major problems, unfortunately), scaled to 5'4" or so, or Jane (pre-scaled to 5'5"), which can be shortened with a minimum of effort due to the construction of that figure from solid vinyl. The other bodies may also be shortened, though more effort is required to make the adjusted limbs presentable if displayed nude or in form-fitting clothing. Of the 6 figures represented here, the height order from tallest to shortest is as follows: SST 1.0, SST 2.0, CyGirl, Eve 2.0, SST 3.0, Eve 1.0.

2. Pictures of the neck/head/torso attachments. The CyGirl Perfect Body, Eve 1.0, and the Sideshows all have dumbbell neck/head attachments similar to Eve 1.0, though of course in different sizes and shapes so compatibility will still be an issue across manufacturers. For example, look at the difference in the size of the neck between Eve 1.0 and the Sideshow. Eve 2.0 is similar in most respects to the DML neo-Adam. A combination head/neck is used, much like Jane, making Jane and Eve 2.0 the easiest bodies to use with custom resin heads. Removing the heads from Eve 1.0, a Cy Girl, or Sideshow figure simply involves grasping the head and pulling it with a <pop!> from the neck post. Doing so reveals the neck post with an articulated internal dumbbell joint, allowing the head to twist and to some extent nod and tilt. As Eve 2.0 and GI Jane have a combination head/neck, no tilt is possible, only twist and nod. Removing the head is very simple, again, similar to a CC Joe or Dragon neo/Adam: heat some water in the microwave. Dunk the head for 30 seconds or so. Then grasp the head (wear an oven mitt or wrap the head in a towel to avoid a burn), and pop off.

3. RoBUSTness. As you can tell, Eve 1.0 is extremely anorexic. See the complete review HERE. She does, however, have the most modest bust, similar to Jane's. The Cy Girls have interchangeable bust pieces, but only from large (C) to ginormous (DD). The CyGirl's exchangeable bust is made of a softer plastic so plastic surgery is not possible. Bust reduction on a Sideshow or Eve 2.0 involves (literal) plastic surgery. CLICK HERE FOR A PICTURE OF A EVE 2.0 MINOR REDUCTION. The Cy Girls and Eve 2.0 have nipples.

4. Hands and feet. The hands and feet on Jane and Eve 1.0 are not designed to be removable/replaceable. The hands and feet of Eve 2.0, Cy Girls, and the Sideshow figures can all be swapped out. In fact, many Sideshow figures come with alternate hands. Cy Girls and Sideshow figures often have molded shoes rather than human feet. Removable extremities allow you to dress the figure in tighter-fitting clothing, allowing for a more tailored look. Eve 2.0 and Cy Girls do have issues with their feet--they tend to come off very easily. See the picture below for an explanation of this for Eve 2.0--no retaining pin, just an ankle post. This is why the parts dealers often sell Eve 2.0's with their boots on. To remove the boots from Eve 2.0, the hot water method works best.
