FAITH & WILLOW
8/1/05
- Quickie update, which might have to last a while. I finished making a mold
of the VampWil head and temporarily mounted it to the modded Eve 2.0. I
still have to do some altering of the bodice to make it fit better at the
shoulders. Oh, and to add the frilly trim to the top of the bra. I might
also do a hairpiece upgrade, as the regular Will's hair is much more
detailed and sculpted than Vamp's. For now, though, I have to put this
project aside, as I've got schoolwork to attend to.

- First update in almost a month. RL is kicking my ass right now, sorry.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by.
I finished modding another DML Eve 2.0 body for VampWil - human. Modding involved giving it a chest reduction and adapting Sideshow hands to the DML body. I like the wrist articulation in the Sideshow hands, plus they are smaller and better scaled than the DML hands, which are sized to hold rifles (military). From the picture of Season 3 Willow versus Faith and Buffy on the left you can see the difference in hand size. I'm going to leave Willow with the huge hands as she in fact does have a rifle (the tranquilizer dart gun she keeps in the library for wolfy Oz and uses on Vampire Willow in the Dopplegangland episode).
I got a cheap Sideshow Vampire Willow, mainly for its clothes and body. I recycled the Sideshow body by using it on Hush Buffy, though I shortened it by a couple of scale inches at the thigh. CLICK HERE for that mini-project page. The pants went straight to my modded Eve 2.0, and they look pretty good. I used DML Abbey Chase boots on the figure, and the high boots allow for a nice pool of fabric at the bottom of the cuffs/top of the boots. The boots also have a nice toe shape that works better than the square toe and 3-inch heel of the Sideshow figure, I think. The corset/shirt needs some work. I'm going to try to alter it to fit snugger at the shoulder and ribs.
I've decided I'm pleased enough with the VampWil head that I should make a mold of it before mounting it to the Eve body. That'll add a couple of days to this whole adventure, but hey, 2 more days on a project that's going on 90+ (which isn't even half way over as I haven't done much with Faith)? Not bad at all, I'd say [smirk]. Plus I really think it'll be worth it to be able to make another VampWil - human custom later on. I already have something in mind...

- Okay, I haven't updated in a while. You're probably wondering if I've
abandoned this project. My excuse is, we've been really, really busy at work
(in the middle of a merger and relearning the corporate identity of my new
parent company and all that). But I still work on this sporadically during
my lunch hour. Faith's still on the back burner. I've edited the regular
Willow head's brow and cheek area and I've tweaked a Vamp Will sculpt with
hair, but to be honest, I'm not sure the changes are major enough to warrant
new RTV molds. I'm thinking the eyes need to be narrowed and the smirk more
pronounced. We'll see. I bought a Sideshow Vamp Will for the costume and
for the body, so I can experiment with adapting my resin heads to the
Sideshow neck joint. I'm still waiting for the Sideshow figure to come in,
and once it does I intend to do some altering on the clothing to get it to
fit better than the stock version. In short, it'll be another couple of
weeks or so before I'll have my version of Vamp Willow (human face) done.
5/6/05 - I finished
painting one Willow head and made a third season 2-part hairpiece for it (CLICK HERE FOR PAGE 2, HAIR EXPERIMENTS).
There are still some parts of the sculpt that I feel should be improved,
particularly the shape of the cheeks and brow, and the mouth can do with
more work, but I'm moving on for now. I put the head on a DML Eve 2.0 body,
which is not the best body for the Sideshow tights. But it's all just
place-holding. I took the shorter Willow body and put Faith's head
on it. As you can see, the shorter body shows up the exaggerated width of
Faith's face at the jaw even more. I did a quickie repaint of the SST
head--just painting her hair to the hairline instead of allowing the flesh
to bleed into the hair helped immensely, but no amount of creative paint aps
can completely fix the overly prominent jaw. I'm still working on my Faith head so
it's going to stay that way for the time being. I repainted Hush Buffy's
eyes and put the head on an Eve 1.0, but incredibly, the Eve 1.0 looks a
little too short (it's about 5'2" in scale) so I'll probably end up shortening the original SST body
instead. As far as the Willow project goes, my next step is to
paint a late season head (heavier on the makeup) and make a season 4 or 5
hairpiece for it. After that's done, I'll be tweaking the sculpt for a Vamp
Will human-face (heavier on the smirk and sneer). 'Course, it's taken about
two months of working on this 15 minutes a day during my lunch break to get
this far, but what's the rush? I'm up for retirement in 35 years, then I'll
have all the time in the world...
