Corporate commissions
"The past decade has witnessed the proliferation of outdoor sculpture, much of it in corporate
settings. Like our metropolitan centers, corporations have realized that important works of art
can help to create a favorable image and increase property values." -- Marion S. Adelberg,
in Sculpture: Nicety or Necessity?, Investment Properties International, 1988

Ad Astra
Ad Astra is a life-size figurative composition cavorting through space expressing the buoyant
spirit of humanity. Converging as a unit, the figures embody a transcendent attraction toward a
higher plane. As the figures asymptotically approach the upper tier of the glass block wall, they
ascend and converge on a horizontal plane, evoking a harmonic equilibrium through its implied
motion.

Sculpture Amenities for JMB
DDG architectural firm of Baltimore approached me with the idea to create a series of
sculpture amenities for the revitalization of a large exterior commercial project owned by JMB
Properties of Chicago, Illinois. I recommended a series of four mythological bronze sculptures
(Pegasus, Centaur, Triton & Dolphin, Satyr ) to be integrated into the surrounding promenade
garden. Additionally, On Point was created in bronze as an interactive piece in the center of a
circular garden motif.

Hand with number 2 pencil
Hand with number 2 pencil was the result of a serendipitous selection of a design by Kurt Petterson of Petterson And
Associates Development firm. During his visit to my studio, he became excited by a clay model
of a truncated hand holding a pencil that I created as a part of another project. He exclaimed
"how about a giant hand holding a pencil?"

Rouse Brothers
"In the work of sculptor William Duffy we find a different mode of expression. He was
selected by the Rouse Development Corporation to create a work for their headquarters in
Columbia, Maryland. For them he fashioned a truly unique work in which the corporate image
is literally the corporate image. A double portrait of the Rouse brothers, two life-size figures
cast in bronze, in easy communication with each other, stands out of doors at the main
entryway." -- Marion S. Adelberg, in Sculpture: Nicety or Necessity?, Investment Properties International, 1988

Children sitting
Rouse and Associates commissioned me to create a sculpture to be dedicated to the memory of the daughter of a Rouse executive who suddenly had passed away. The intent of Children Sitting was to portray children in contemplation and was installed at Three Ponds Office Park
in Columbia, Maryland.

Octopus
Octopus was specifically commissioned by an art consultant for a commercial site in Coral Springs, Florida. I placed the octopus on the edge of a fountain as though it were crawling out, in an animated gesture. I enjoy placing sculptural objects or vignettes in unpredictable settings other than the proverbial sculpture-on-the-pedestal-in-the-park. The public most often responds with delight and surprise at discovering sculpture in an atypical context.
