Lilac Crowned Amazon Parrot

Merlin is a brilliant Lilac Crowned Amazon, born in 1980. As a little girl, she selected her caretaker, Elaina, who was unsuspecting at the time. (Merlin was wild caught; common in those days.) Over the years, Merlin has taught Elaina what she needed, supplemented with BABA & Bird Talk's help. Thanks to DNA sexing, at 13 yrs old, Mom found out she was, in fact, the little lady she appeared to be. She speaks her native tongue (which she taught to her younger partner born in captivity) & English.

Needs 12 hours of undisturbed sleep per day, lots of good hardwood branches to chew on, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, plenty of exercise and lots of love. Even clipped, this bird can fly!
