House Parents at Boys Home and Huntersville

Pop was the only real father I had as a teenager. He was a kind but firm man. We worked together on campus cutting grass, making sure the live stock was taken care of. Mrs Wingfield was a great Lady. She loved Boys Home and what it did for the young men of NC. The morning Mrs. Wingfield came into my room and said she needed help with the kitchen that Pop was gone. I was not sure what she meant. I ran to the kitchen area of Mitchem cottage, there was Mr. Soft.

I saw the look on his face I learned that Pop had gone home to heaven that night in Chattanooga TN. I had lost my dad. I thank God for the short time I had with them both they made a difference in my life today. Jimmy Stewart Boys Home Huntersville 75-78
