I'm just a regular guy who retired from the US Navy where I was a Hospital Corpsman. When I got out, I stayed in South Carolina and changed professions. I lived in
Goose Creek, South Carolina, just 15 miles south of tranquil Moncks Corner in Berkeley County (about 18 miles north of Charleston!). The area is packed with history and good people. The weather, most of the time, is all right but it gets hot in the summer - and hu-MID! You can break out in a sweat just THINKING hard! At least they have the malaria and yellow fever under control, so the mosquitoes are only a small nuisance. Because I wore my shoes all the time, I didn't get the worms.
But eventually, with the twists and turns of life, I decided to move back to Virginia in 2004. I built a small house on the Craig Creek, in Botetourt County, where the livin' is easy!
I've lived in California, New York, Maryland, South Carolina, Taipei (Taiwan), Indonesia, and Australia; and of course I was raised in Virginia. There were bunches of good people in those non-southern places, but it's nice to be back in Virginia, humidity and all!
Just because I moved from South Carolina is no reason to abandon the memories.
