Bob Hunt's
Special projects

  1. How about a Harley-Davidson HO train set? I'm looking for one, with the steam engine and appropriate rolling stock. I think it's a 1987 edition, stock #99214-87 ZZ. I prefer it in its original box, but without may be okay.

  2. The Franklin and Pittsylvania Railroad ran between points in Franklin and Pittsylvania Counties in Virginia, for a relatively short period of time, as old railroads go. I'd like to correspond with folks concerning this line, and I'd like some good quality pictures showing the engines and rolling stock with their logos.

  3. The Reverend Robert Hunt (c1568-1608) of England came to Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. After a year of difficult service to the little colony, he died, probably of typhoid. His wife Elizabeth (b. 1581) neé Edwards and children had remained in England. She remarried (1608), and we have lost track of the children Thomas (b. c1598)and Elizabeth (b. c1602). It is postulated that Thomas came to America at a later date, but there is no documentation to support this. I want to know what became of Thomas. I think Elizabeth the daughter may have become the ward of her uncle Stephen Hunt and may have married later on, but I am unsure. Anyone have any suggestions?

  4. Moses Kellog (1817-1876), his first wife Harriet, and their son Henry (1840-1873) came to North Carolina, where the wife died. Moses remarried to Martha Hiatt. Both Moses and Henry served the Confederate Army during The War; after the war, Henry married Mary Penn Staples (1840-1878) of Virginia. In 1870, all of them seem to have left North Carolina for parts northward, but I cannot find them for sure. I do know that both Moses and Henry are thought to have died and been buried in Albany, New York, and that Mary and two little girls (Katherine, b. 1871, and Mary, b. 1872) returned to Virginia. I have found Mary and the daughters, but I need confirmation regarding the deaths and burials of Moses and Henry, and maybe Moses' second wife Martha. Some information suggests that they may be in Albany, Vermont instead of New York but I can't find them in either place. Anyone have any information?

  5. Clifton Forge Family Group Project: Help me document the early people who made Clifton Forge, and to document all the others who have contributed something to that little town.   Check out my Family Group Project page.

  6. My current stamp collecting passions!
    1. Collecting within the topic of flags and stamps...
    2. What's the advantage in collecting "covers"?
    3. What can we do to make this collecting more fun? A study group!
