Stamp Collecting Pages!

Why collect stamps? Well, to satisfy some urge or obsession or compulsion, I guess. But why else?  Why would any sane person do this?  Being one of the sanest people I know, I am qualified to answer this!

Stamps can represent an interest in the history of the world, a region, or a specific locality (even your hometown). They can teach about famous people, subjects ("topics"), and events. They can be a miniature art collection. They can be used as a tool to meet people throughout the world. Stamp collecting offers something to take up your time and your spare money. There's lots to do in stamp collecing, probably limited mostly by your own imagination.

I used to collect everything the US Postal Service put out - singles, sheets, plate blocks, covers and stationery, etc. - but now I'm more discerning.   I collect whatever I like!

    Topicals such as

• flags, Red Cross, ambulances and fire trucks, trains, stamps-on-stamps, statehood (different countries have states; some of them use a different term for their states), to name a few topics.
• I like covers celebrating historical events centering on flags, NATO and similar military alliances, the Red Cross -- whatever catches my fancy!
• Great Britain's Machin stamps with a checklist
• The U.S.'s own Transportation Coils checklist.
• I would like to be involved with a study group for flags on stamps, and I joined the American Topical Association with this in mind. Lots of people collect this topic, but a unique specialty has yet to be organized! Anyone interested in this should feel free to contact me!
