Name________________
Now that
you have taken the survey in class and determined where you are on the
political spectrum, you can see if your results will hold firm. To do this, please complete the following
assignment for Thursday, September 17.
1. Go to my web site links page for your class and select
the link that says “Match Your Ideology.”
Here is the URL
http://home.att.net/~betsynewmark/GoPoLinks.html#Ideology
2. You will find links to several ideology surveys. Take any two of the surveys. Record your results by writing them down or
printing them out.
3. Ask at least one family member to take either one of the
online surveys or my survey which is posted on my website at the same link.
Record the results. If you can get
several to take the survey, you’ll have a richer sample to analyze.
4. Write up your results.
You must address the following questions.
a. Do the results of the three
surveys correlate with each other? How
are they different? How can you explain
the differences?
b. How do your results correlate
with your family’s results? Does this
surprise you? How can you explain the similarities and differences?
c. Does the material in Wilson,
Chapter Five, correspond to your personal results? Now that you have read about
the factors that influence public opinion do those factors apply to you? What does and what doesn’t?
(This must
be stapled to your paper when you turn it – or lose 10 points.)
