Want a more detailed price list?
The gift tags included in these sheets make deciding what to collect a little difficult (another reason to go with full sheets). Even describing the options is a little tough. If you want just a block containing all the designs, please bear with us while we try to explain. If you have a recent sheet or two, get them out and take a look the following will make more sense.
Seals made by different printers may also vary in color, size and gauge of perforation, gum, paper, etc. If you get interested in these and sort out all the sheets you have with the help of our checklist , you may want to fill in some of the remaining holes. Particularly for the older sheets, please expect some degree of separation and/or disturbed gum, but all are in collectable condition. Please note that some printers made more than one variety of seal in some years. If you care about this, see our full sheet price list .

Test Design Seals
-
All-Designs Blocks
Beginning in 1980, the National Design was selected in part based on test marketing various designs the previous year. Most of these designs were never seen again and even those that were chosen but bear "the wrong date" are an interesting addition to a collection.
These
three
groups do NOT duplicate one another.
The
first
group (1979-96) includes:
▪
All-Designs ("A-D") singles, pairs, and blocks for 1979 to 1996.
▪
The No-Tags ("N-T") groups have all the
seals but no
gift tags.
▪
Only major varieties (obviously different from one another) are included.
The
second
group (1988-96) includes:
▪
full sheets (with all different designs)
▪
self-adhesive panes for these years.
The
third
group (1997-2000) includes:
▪
full sheets (most Test Designs in this period are self-adhesive, or all
different, or both)
40 different issues between 1979 and 1996 with 60 seals + 40 gift tags in all-design blocks in usual condition.

Japanese
Christmas Seals are now issued by the Japan Anti-TB Association.
The three packets below will give you a "nearly complete"
collection back to 1952, the first year for JATA.
Although there are 1 to 4 different normal designs each year, some sheets
contain one or two unique seals not included in the groups below.
12 different years between 1952 and 1963 with 16 different seals
20 different years between 1964 and 1983 with 52 different seals
18 different years between 1984 and 2001 with 54 different seals
Choice – Well centered, perforated on all sides
(except for 1918 seals from booklet panes, etc., which all have straight
edges), and with Original Gum. "Choice" seals will also be Never
Hinged for 1927 and later, though may be hinged or have disturbed gum for 1926
and earlier.
Usual –
These are the same as "Choice" except that the centering is not as
good, but the perfs will still be clear of the design on all sides.
Sound – These have no paper faults, but
they may be without gum, have straight edges, and/or be poorly centered.
Faulty – These have creases, small tears
or thins, a few missing perfs, may be slightly soiled, etc., but are still
"presentable" from the front.
Dogs & Gems – We also have seals
which don’t qualify even as faulty "Seconds". If you can use a Real Dog
for an even greater discount, let us know and we’ll see what we have.
Occasionally we have seals which are better than "Choice"; if you need a
Gem for an exhibit or some other special purpose, we’ll see if we have one,
though will have to charge a premium price (if we have such a seal at all).
Tell Us Your Preferences – For example, if you want Never Hinged for the older
seals, or if you don’t care much what the back looks like but prefer full-perf
seals over straight edges, let us know and we’ll try to please.
Please Remember – Seals vary continuously over a
wide range of conditions and all do not fit neatly into the above categories.
In case we don’t have a seal in exactly the requested condition, please let us
know whether you’d rather have a little nicer copy for a higher price, or one
of lower condition for a discount.
Full Sheets
Typical Sheets– Beginning in 1927, our price is for a "typical sheet." Sheets from about 1940 and later will in general be Never Hinged and have little or no separation. Those from 1939 and earlier, and particularly 1931 and before, may have disturbed gum and slight separations or reinforcements.
Centering – We have not priced full sheets based on centering. The printer’s goal was to produce seals cheaply, even if the workmanship was not of high quality. Frequently, for example, the perforating wheels were not spaced the same as the seal designs. Thus, even if "on the average" the perforations are aligned with the designs, some rows may be too high and some too low, some left and some right. Even a block in which all seals are well centered is scarce, and a "Very Fine" full sheet may be non-existent.
So . . . if you want us to go through and look for fresh sheets with no separations which have better-than-average centering, we’ll be happy to do so, but must ask for a 50% premium (lower percentage for higher value sheets) for our effort in searching for them.
