Ahhh bellissima...the look of new paint!
Phil writes: “I purchased N28039, a 1978 17-30A, in January of 2001 from Miller Flying Service for pleasure and business flying. Many hours have been spent tinkering, adjusting and improving the plane mechanically. A JPI 700 monitors the engine and a slaved Bendix HSI guides us on our travels. A recently installed Garwin wet vacuum pump with a second M-20 air/oil separator keeps everything spinning along. The Hartzell prop was brand new when MFS delivered 039.”
“Our Viking has about 2200 hours total time since new and about 1200 on a Gold Seal overhaul. A full set of new Millenium cylinders were installed about 50 hours back. As with all Vikings, ours flies like a dream. A little adjusting here and there and it now trims out perfectly. With its able assistance, I earned my instrument rating last summer.”
“Finally the day came when I had to make the ultimate sacrifice and leave my Viking with Santa Paula Aircraft Painting for Kevin Barr’s magic touch. The results were truly magical! Imron 5000 makes it look better than new. We applied Snow White for the base color, Ming Blue II Pearl metallic for the primary trim and Dark Toreador Red metallic for the secondary trim. Dan Torrey of Mobile Aircraft Maintenance (MARS) did a great deal of beautiful fabric prep work. He also reworked and reskinned the inner nose gear door to increase the air flow & adjusted the fuel flow per the service bulletin. Now I can climb at 120 mph without overheating. I highly recommend both Kevin and Dan for top-notch Viking service.”
