Jim Schuppe- Pastor-
Jim was born in Washington D.C., and was raised in Arlington, Va., the son of a Post Office employee. His father and mother loved the Lord, and at the age of 7, he trusted Christ as his Savior. When he was 16, he told God that he wanted to follow Him wherever He would lead him. Within a year, Jim was convinced He wanted him at the Washington Bible College, which was located at that time, six blocks from the White House. After graduating from college, he enrolled at the Capital Bible Seminary (in the same location) and attended there three years. Upon graduation, he was invited to teach at the Washington Bible College, and began an education career that would last for 30 years: 23 at WBC and 7 at Liberty University.
In 1970, Jim married Martha Jo Hearn, whom he'd met a year and a half earlier at Barcroft Bible Church. She was a missionary with Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Maryland. They have been blessed with six children, and five grandchildren.
Jim's life goal is to experience God's presence. In order to do that, he has committed himself to study the Bible, obey it, and teach it. Jim has found that he can't do that alone; he needs the help of other people. At Belcroft Bible Church, we are convinced that God wants us to work with each other to create a community of people who are following Christ.
Jim views his responsibility at Belcroft, as that of a "coach," to encourage, to teach, to counsel and to challenge the "team" to run their "race" in the best way.
