I was playing my LS Aliens on Tatoine deck I've had for a while, and my new Dark Ground Hoth/Tatooine deck.
1st game- DS vs a young kid
It was tough, he didn't really know the rules at all. Notable misplays
include trying to use a Control as a Starting Interrupt to get a starting
effect of Obi's Cape. I called over the store owner and asked him to
help the kid out and between us we taught him the basics. I tried to go
easy on him, letting him get in a few force drains, deploying a lone
Vader to battle his guys instead of a Vader, Sabre, Tarkin, etc. I ended
up winning by 34 in a rather un-eventful game.
2nd game- LS vs cocky young kid
There was some talk during the 1st game that this kid was really taking
advantage of his 1st round opponent's lack of knowing all the rules. So
right off the start there was some extra incentive to win. He starts D*
and Imperial Decree, mine Throne Room and Do Or Do Not. I get out a few
sites and draw some cards. He stockpiles some force and deploys a
Blizzard Walker and some pilots to his Def. Perimeter. He obnoxiously
informs me that all my drain bonuses are canceled, I tell him to read his
own card. I get a B'omarr Monk, Obi, Sic Six and 2 Eloms to my Audience
Chamber. He brings down Vader w/ Sabre, Zuckuss w/ Mandalorian Armor and
Dengar's Riot Gun, battles, captures Obi, hits somone, I lose the battle
bad, he loses nothing, I lose all but 2 Eloms. He also gets off a Monnok
for 2 Eloms and 2 Windchimes. I put my Sic Six in the Bacta Tank. I
depoy Tanus Spyjek and move the Eloms to join. My not re-deploying my
Sic Six hurts as he Elis Helrots and kills all my guys. Things are
looking kinda bad. I deploy Arleil Schous and some aliens to do the
Cantina Shuffle and Vader and Zuckuss make their way to Mos Eisley. I
track a 5 destiny and decide to fight to free my Obi. I move over,
battle, take some losses and kill Vader. He deploys Veers, Ozzel, Dr. E
and decides to battle (not realizing the 5 I drew is now on top of my
reserve deck). Sic Six makes all his characters forfeit -2 so he loses
Ozzel and Veers. Next turn my 5 destiny is conveniently on bottom of my
reserve deck, so I activate all but 1 and battle. Dr. E and Zuckuss are
both only forfeit 1 so he loses them and some cards (Obi is free!).
Tessek find the Audience Chamber and my nice drain bonuses lead to a
drain of 10 per turn on Tatooine and a nice 14 card victory!
3rd game- LS vs. Rob Middleton's JP/Abyssin deck.
I get out a Monk and Kal Fal 1st turn, but 0 sites (there's like 10 in
the deck :(. Fortunately he's only activating 4. Although soon Djas w/
Thermal Detonator kills all but 1 Elom at JP and he gets out all his
sites. He deploys Scum and Villany, Chall and Gallid to the AC. I put
out Obi w/ sabre and clear the Chamber. Only to have Obi blow up by
another Thermal Detonator :(. I finally get out some sites but his
drains at JP are large. Obi makes a last ditch effort to retake the AC,
but is met w/ a 5 destiny and the game is lost, lose by like 30, ouch.
4th game- DS vs. Chris Gogolen's LS Mains deck
Chris is a good player and I'm glad we get to play again (he's been on
the other end of my 2 most fun games of recent). I get a 1/1 site on my
first turn and save my 3 force (Vader w/ Sabre in hand). He starts Obi's
Hut and deploys Luke w/ Sabre to my Def. Perimeter. He's not pleased to
see Vader, but Vader chokes and misses Luke, Luke also misses but is lost
due to attrition. He draws the next 2 turns and I Monnok lost for 2
Controls and 3 Senses and see Uncontrolable Fury :(. Obi goes to
Tatooine w/ Sabre and I'm losing forse to Uncontrollable Fury w/ my You
Are Beaten nowhere to be found. Blizzard 2 and Ozzel make go to the
other side of Tatooine from Obi to drain. Princess Leia and Comm. Wedge
go to the CC:Lower Corridor and are met by Bane, Djas and Tarkin. Leia
loses her Sabre to Djas and Han joins the fray. Another Monnok (followed
by a There'll Be Hell To Pay/Control) found 2 Warrior's Courage (and
Smoke Screen and Krayt Dragon Howl). Blizzard 1 and Veers joined Ozzel
in Blizzard 2 to jump Obi on Tatooine, Smoke Screened 6 and a 3 lessen
the damage but he has to lose some force while I lose Veers and Ozzel.
Fett and Zuckuss join Blizzard 2 on Tatooine and set up a drain while
dodging Obi. Leia steals her weapon back and is ready to fight on CC but
it's too late. I probably lost almost 20 force to Uncontrollable Fury,
but my drains were much bigger. I pull out a win by 9.
I got like 5th, my differential was kind of low but I was happy w/ 3-1 considering I played a lot of good players. I bid fond farewell to the JP era of tournaments and look cautiously forward to the changes that Special Edition holds!
