I was looking foward to the Battle of Yavin tourny for a while. I decided to use my coulag operatives and a new Surprise Assualt/On the Edge Hidden Base deck. We arrived an hour early and there were already 20+ people waiting outside. My brother Chris and his friend Jason, had come from Maryland for this one. I was unsure of my light deck, but i thought it would do well, my dark deck i knew would be good because it is undefeated in tourny play so far. Soon enough Statman called the pairings and we started off.
Game1 My Dark vs. "Spike"'s Hidden Base/EBO deck.
I had a bad start, only drawing Vader and an Operative as my only characters, so i deployed them and drew for a few turns. He didn't really do much the1st few turns so i thought i was safe. I managed to flip turn 5(horrible) and probed his hidden base 2nd try. I sensed his All Wings Report In twice while he was fetching x-wings, managed to make him lose the 4th marker and he had to make a desperate attack on Corulag. He deployed EPP's, but my Troopers and Vader/Tarkin on a Skiff Fended them off. Easy win by 27 2(+27)
Game2 My Light vs. Ray Bordier's Dark Tie deck His Start of Hoth puzzled me, but surface defense and all 3 effects hurt my retrieval badly. I had a good start getting 2 corvette's, epp han w/electro binocs and a x-wing to kessel 2nd turn. But he deployed a dreadnought, 5 ties, battled, all power to weapons, and he tallon rolled the x-wing. I had to lose everything there to cover battle damage. That hurt. I managed to take control of coruscant and started the retrieval with on the edge. I Surprised assualted him a few times, and attempted to beat down a lone tie with 2 x-wings, s-foiled pumped. But he suicide tallon rolled to prevent battle damage. He had about a drain of 8, and i managed to flip at the end of my turn, so i could cancel 2 of his drains. He probed successfully so i could (finally) force drain for more than 1. But i only got 1 full drain in before i ran out of cards. Full lose by 18 2(+9)
Game 3 My light vs. ????? ORd Mandell Ops deck
I got it a similar hand as last game, and began setting it up. But he flipped 2nd turn , hurting my drains severely. I used a few EPP's to hurt him but once again i find i don't have enough ships to set up drains and i get force drained to death:-( Full loss by 15 2(-4) By now i realized that my light deck is really bad, o well.
Game4 My dark vs. ?????? Visored Vision Deck
I get a good setup and flip 3rd turn, but he deploys EPP after EPP. He plays a card to make used piles face up and visored vision's twice a turn to make me lose force. His EPP's keep harassing me but my drains are starting to add up. He gets A gift set up to slow me down but i'm still draining for 5 or 6 a turn. He plays very slowly and I'm starting to get worried about timing out. I get Vader and Tarkin on a skiff at the middle site and deploy a bunch of sites and ops and i abyssian ornament for about 6. I finally manage to kill off his EPP's and he runs out of cards. Full win by 9 4(+0)
Food break, yum. I play a few games of young jedi and i ask almost everyone at the tourny if they have a yoda or SOS for trade. I was planning on an endor dagobah clouds deck and I needed to get 2 more yodas and 3 SOS's. I manage to get a yoda and all 3 SOS's and a foil for my Young Jedi Foil set.
Game5 my dark vs Same guy as game 3's No Shelter deck
I had lost to him in game 3, and i was out for revenge. I got a quick turn 2 flip(thanks to imperial supply) but he got together a main beatdown team. He wiped out one site, elised over to the far site and he wiped that site out next turn.urn, making my objective flip back over. But i manage to flip it back in a few turns with stormtroopers. i get rid of most of his mains, but he revolutions my forest. I alter. He revolutions Obi's Hut and nabruns over his mains. I alter his revolution, and when he nabruns back over, i sense. He's stuck at obis hut and i force drain him to death.Full win by 6 6(+6)
Game6 My Light vs. ??????? Carbon Chamber Testing Deck.
I give her Wedge, and I hope to get an EPP 1st turn to fight for his freedom. I get Obi, and he's sufficient to set him free. I set up in space, getting drains at the 3 big systems and I flip. I surprise assualt and on the edge a few time's and she manages to get a few drains set up. She deploys EPP Fett, Dr. Evazan, and some random aliens. She hits and operates on wedge(who i deployed for backup) and i miss Fett. She draws a 5 and i draw a 0 for destiny. I lose Obi and a Few cards. She never tries to probe but she gets a bunch of 1 force drains out and they start to hurt. I still manage a win with a respectable differential of 14 8(+20)
Game7 Light vs. ???? Raltirr Operations deck
Look at game 2. Thats about the exact same thing, but with a bunch of star destroyers and pilots vs. a few corvettes and x-wings. The only real damage i did was make him lose 12 to a surprise assualt. When I finally flip he probes 1st turn. I took control of Kiffix for some draining but he has to many drains. Full loss by 16 8(+4)
At least I get to finish with my dark and it should be a fairly easy game since i got knocked down so far in the rankings.
Game8 My dark vs. ??????EBO
When i see he starts with the main power generators i start with resistence to hamper his drains. I again flip 2nd turn. It looks like he has a god hand with geezum, 2 characters, and a site, but he can't find EBO. I sense his signal twice, and alter his rebel fleet. He deploys EPP Luke and Han vs a Op, Stormtrooper, and Tarkin. I lose everything but Tarkin in the battle and he loses Han. Next Turn I deploy Admiral Ozzel, an Operative, 2 Stormie's, and i Elis over EPP Vader. I beat him down and he loses Luke and 14 more cards.Ouch. He sets up TPTIFF and that slows my drains down, but i'm still draining for enough. He finally gets EBO out, but he only gets 2 turns of draining in. I deploy Bossk in the Bus and about 5 operatives, and abyssian ornament for 9. Full Win By 28 10(+32)
Well in the last game, my brother(DS6154) gets a true tie with farimar, and Jason ends up winning. Chris had 9 victory points and about the same differential as me, and Jason had 8 with a large differential. I end up at about 15th, and i was the 2nd or 3rd place junior. Out of 55, not bad. The tourny ended late and withthe 2 hour drive, we were exhausted whe we got home. Thanks to Statman, Greg, and Pat for the very well organized tourny. The guys from Coruscant ended up killing all of us grrrrr, o well i got Jabba in my prize support so i'm happy.
