I'd made some decks before I got to the tournament, but I was missing a lot of cards. Between my best friend and our TD I managed to get two decks together. My dark deck was your standard operatives deck, with coruscant and ABCTTU on the side and some space defence. My light deck was a sort of hidden base space/ground deck using weapons for fun. Only about 10 people showed up. On to the games!
Game 1: My dark vs. Beng Ti Tan's Light Tessek/Maneuvering Flaps deck
Beng started with the JP:AC and Uh-Oh! On his first turn he got down Tatooine:JP, a desert and got out maneuvering flaps w/ the signal. I set up an early drain with an operative, thunderflare at DS coruscant and BinHT at corulag before (or maybe after with the ships) I flipped (turn 3). From then on I wasn't losing too much to force drains. Beng set up EPP obi at toshi station. Next turn he activated and tried to smack BinHT w/ Spiral and a H'nmenthe. He drew a 0, I got something like a 2. Next turn, Vengeance and a dreadnaught came down to kill Spiral. We also had a couple of small skirmishes on corulag, but my constant draining won me the game.
High: Seeing his sandwhirl taking over my desert!
Low: Having finished making my decks 5 mins after round 1 started
2(+30)
Game 2: My light vs. Rodney Lee's CC Sabacc deck
Rodney started with the CC: Security Tower and Den of Thieves, which I thought was odd because a) he had about 3 Landos in his deck anyway and b) he took a while to get the Casino. I got started draining and cancelling drains quickly, trying to get some stuff to kill everyone at the Casino (when it appeared). Finally it came out and Lobot, Lando and 2 cloud city troopers. I deployed EPP Luke, Princess Organa (couldn't get the EPP), Melas and Yoxgit. He had converted bespin, so they were all deploy -1, sweet >:-). To cut a long story short, he played A Real Hero and Trooper Assault, I hit Lando. Later in the game we had a big battle at coruscant, my power 31 (with funky weapon stuff) to his 31, but his forfeit managed to cover most of it.
High: The space battle
Low: Sabacc
4(+61)
Game 3: My light vs. Michael Josem's Corulag Operatives deck
Bad match up for me. My deck had a couple of Harc Seffs in it, but he got killed relatively quickly. Basically I was cancelling a few of his drains, but not draining him for too much (he converted coruscant). I was losing, but I'm really annoyed at how careless I got. Let's just say a b-wing got beaten up by 19 force.
High: Seeing how much better his corulag ops deck worked than mine
Low: Being so locked down
4(+25)
Game 4: My dark vs. Derek Prout's Hidden Base
Derek did much better in this game than I did in my last. He had managed to get about 2 of each EPP (except obi, didn't see1) and so was able to beat me up a bit on the ground. This slowed me down because I had to try and keep 4 ability with the operatives to keep from being beaten up again. In the meantime he got his objective flipped and was cancelling most of my drains. He was beating me. I played Shocking Revelation and Abyssin Ornament one after the other. Next turn I activated, drained, deployed BinHT, a dreadnaught (for 3 force!) and Vader's Personal Shuttle to coruscant and battled. The total battle destiny of 10 helped a bit ;-). This is what turned the game around. He only had a gold squad y-wing there, so he lost 19 force from that battle. The rest of the game was tight, but after moving the ships to Kiffex and backing them up with the Thunderflare I was able to win.
High: The great space battles. The first one caused the most damage, but then we had another battle or two at Kiffex (I got 8 for destiny :-)
Low: The early game beat down
6(+40)
Terry Lyons took first place (and the shirt!), Michael Josem 2nd and me 3rd. I was relatively pleased with how I went, but I was really gunning for the shirt :-). Overall I think everyone would agree with me that Operatives dominated the tournament. I managed to do a good trade: My WB C-3PO, Captain Bewil, Old Times and Luke's Cape for BinHT.
Some things I noticed:
High: Good battles
Low: Too many non-interactive decks
