2/13/99 Fairlawn, NJ, Game Master, 5:00 PM
I tried to get new directions to the store cause my old directions where rather circuitous, however for some reason no one answered their phone. Oh well, I took my internet directions and headed out early just in case I got lost. Unfortunately, I didn't just get lost, I got very lost. After stopping at a 4th gas station I finally found someone who both spoke english and knew where the road I needed to be on was, however at this point it was after 5 and I was late! I finally found the store and got inside to find the 1st round underway. Luckily there was an extra player so I had someone to play in the 1st round.

1st round: DS vs. "??????" deck
He said he was a converted Magic player and this was his 1st tournament. He didn't really know what he was doing, but the TD and I helped him out so he got down the basics. I flipped my objective pretty quick and he didn't really know what to do, and ended up leaving lone guys for me to kill. He did manage to get out Obi-Wan to fight Vader at the Def. Perimeter, but my bonus to battle destiny quickly killed Obi. I drained him out. Win by 37. 2 (+37)
2nd round: LS vs. Jason Lembo's ISB Ops
We're the top pairing, Jason won the last local tournament edging me out on differential so I was glad to get the chance to play him. We both struggled to find sites, I got Yoda at his Hut and drew a lot, as did he, I grimtaashed (used version) him twice to slow him down. I found the Tantive 4 and put it at Coruscant to get in some draining. Eventually I added Melas and got out the Bacta Tank. He dropped a DS-SD w/ Evax and an ORS but didnt' have enough force to battle. I drew some cards and his turn he battles, I react w/ the Spiral, draw a 4 for destiny and he pulls a 0. He loses Evax, next turn I battle him again and pull another 4 and he loses the star destroyer.
We each finally get out a site, me a 2/1 CC site and him the Cantina. We activate and save force and I deploy Obi w/ Saber and EPP Luke to the Cantina. He drop Vader w/ Saber, then Tarkin and I Clash of Sabers Vader. He Elis Helrots Tarkin to CC and deploys an ISB Op w/ him. My turn I signal for a Frozen Assets and Nabrun Obi and Luke to CC. I miss a Sorry About the Mess on Tarkin, and deploy Han Solo and battle. I hit both characters, play Courage of a Skywalker and Gift of the Mentor. He loses around 18 force. Next turn he drops an ISB and Evazan w/ Vader. My turn I drain, and Nabrun my guys over to the Cantina (stupidly during my Control phase). He disarms and operates on Luke. So instead of deploying EPP Leia for a big beatdown, I deploy another Luke. I battle and he steals Obi's sabre, but Vader swings and misses, I hit Evazan and he loses the ISB. Next turn I drop Leia there and clean out the site w/ some more battle damage. I drain him out. Win by 26. 4 (+63)
3rd game - LS vs. Rich Haman's ISB Ops
Similiar start to the previous game. Neither of us gets a site out
early, so we draw. I eventually get out the Savrip and Obi w/ Saber and EPP Luke at a 2/1 site on CC. He dropped PotF and the Executor at
Coruscant and Darth w/ Saber at the Jundland Wastes. I signaled for
Frozen Assets and Nabrunned Obi and Luke to the Wastes. I deployed Han
Solo and battled. Obi swung at Vader, drew a 6 and a 0, but Han decided that 0 should be redrawn and I pulled a 3 so Vader was hit. Then I Gift of the Mentored and Courage of a Skywalkered to add onto the damage. I pulled 11 total destiny for 29 power, he had 10. He lost Vader and 19.
Melas and Pucimyr and later Tawss Khaa went to drain on CC. EPP Fett, Jabba and Chyler came to battle, Pucimyr and Chyler died. I nabrunned Obi and Luke back to CC, Clash of Sabered Fett, deployed EPP Leia and squashed Jabba. The damage ended the game. Win by 23. 6 (+89)
4th game - DS vs. Manny Rodriguez's Hidden Base/X-wings
I thought I might be in trouble this game (I knew he'd be canceling a lot of my drains, It's A Hits, It Could Be Worses, Projection of a Skywalker, etc.) and my deck doesn't drain for that much anyway. I get my 3rd turn flip and he gets some X-wings spread out at a few planets. He finally gets out Coruscant and flips his objective. I go search for my own Coruscant but can't find it so I pull a Vader to go w/ his Shuttle. I drop Bossk in Bus at Coruscant to cancel his GT and he Rebel Barriers it. So I deploy Vader's Shuttle and Vader and squash the X-wing w/ +4 to my battle destiny. Surprisingly he didn't have a Houjix (w/ lone x-wings I was surprised).
Next turn he drops 3 x-wings and GL in G1 @ Coruscant and battles, I draw 10 total in battle destiny so he loses 3 X-wings and GL in G1 runs to Ralltiir. My turn I get out First Strike and drop Tarkin on the Avenger on 2 x-wings @ Kiffex (retrieving Bossk in the Bus for later use). I move Avenger to Dantooine (where I figured his base was) and Vader's Shuttle went to Kiffex. His turn he dropped TK-422 at my jungle and I probed Dantooine (no luck), then Kiffex (found it!). My turn I got Bubo to eat Han at the jungle, and pulled Bossk in the Bus to crush some x-wings at Kessel. He got out some Projections of a Skywalker and was canceling drains w/ It's A Hit and It Could Be Worses but I was slowly winning. My turn I looked for my There'll Be Hell To Pay but had to settle for a Dreadnaught to beat up his GL in G1 at Ralltiir. In the end I was draining for 2 at each of 3 as well as 3 on Ralltiir. There's nothing left for him to do but stick some X-wings at Rend. Point and All Wings for some force. I drain him out. Win by 27. 8 (+116)
I was the only undefeated player so I won. Rich finished 2nd and Manny's brother Luis got 3rd. The shirt was Vader, which made me extremely happy! Vader, Obi and Tarkin were pulled out of the prize support box, although I didn't get any. I was more than happy w/ my Vader shirt though! I didn't get quite as lost on they way home which is a good thing. Unfortunately my streak of consecutive weekends w/ a SW tournament ends next weekend :(. Although the weekend after there are 3, so I guess that makes up for it. Hope you liked my report.
