Trading Tips for Juniors

[Note from Beakman]This article was authored by a regular SW:CCG Junior Tourney player. He was asked to share some of his thoughts on what he feels are the most important things for players to know.

Trading is a big part of SWCCG. Some people who are just starting won't trade anything but doubles. This gets you no-where. Trade whatever you don't need or thing you won't need. This enables you to do better in the beggining. Tournements are probably the best place to trade. Go to Find-A-Deck (http://www.pagesz.net/~billyak) and look for a certain type of deck you would be interested in playing. Look at different examples. Try coming up with your own deck of the same basis with a twist. Try combining stuff. Elom-Chandra Fan deck? Throw in a Ardon Vapor Crell! Why not? Destiny of 4. Wedge is cool. Destiny of 4 and high forfeit. Think about what you could use. Dont stick MAINLY to the idea. Unless the main idea is winning.

Trading for Winners

After you come up with a deck, come up with a list of cards you need. Be reasonable. Don't put 3 Vaders on the list if you don't have any. Your not going to be able to get one very easily. Be realistic. Instead of Vader, maybe you could get DS-61-3! Hes 3-2 for 2. Thats pretty good. Try Dengar, or Bossk. Or whatever. I dont have ANY Vaders. -zip- And I've won tournements. How, you ask? Heres what ZippyDaJedi had to say:

"He just out drained his opponents with quick and decisive decks."

Okay. So you get the point. Both my decks are on Beakman's page...so you can look at them there.

--But back to the point.

Every time you go to a tournament, buy a few packs of cards. With what you get from your packs, try to get some of the cards you need. If the trade seems in their advantage, request some of the commons or uncommons that you need as well. Most juniors bring their commons/uncommons, and trading those is an easy way to even out a trade.
