General Advice from One Junior to Another

[Note from Beakman]This article was authored by a 12-year-old SW:CCG player. He was asked to share some of his thoughts on what he feels are the most important things for a new player to know.

Hello, this is King Shivy (one of QJ's brothers) to help you newbies with getting started in several areas essential to survival in the SW:CCG community. The essentials of trading and deck building will be explained in this article. I hope that you get some good information from this article.

Trading is the second best way to get good cards (second only to pulling cards in packs) and is a risky one for newbies. I know a kid who pulled about 6 $7 cards in packs so he thought that they were common so he started trading them off so quickly that by the time he found out how much they were worth he only had one left. So before you trade check the price in SCRYE ( the CCG trader's bible).

Next, never trade over the Internet until you get a lot more experience. When you trade, always make sure you check on the condition of your cards and the cards of the person you are trading with. **You shouldn't always go by money value, card playability plays a big part.** Remember, when in doubt, use common sense.

Deck building and use is something I think can be reduced to 5 key points:

1. Never overlook the uses of commons & uncommons
2. Always have a strategy for a deck!!!!!!!!!!!!
3. When playing someone else's deck, see if they will tell you the strategy
4. When you modify a deck PLAYTEST it!!!!!!!!
5. If one strategy doesn't work try a new one

I hope to write another article soon. Please give me me some feedback I'm at KingShivy@aol.com -- please tell me how you liked this. Make sure to read Queen Jawa Speaks. If you liked this article and want more, e-mail QJ, and tell her to have her dear brother write again.
