These interviews are meant to take an interesting look at those in
the SW:CCG community that we know a little about. Hopefully these will
reveal some new things about the people we talk to on the internet
1. How did you get started playing SW:CCG?
I started to collect in December of '95 just as I was leaving M:tG for various
and sundry reasons. Middle Earth CCG and SWCCG came out within a few months
of each other, and I debated for a long time which to get into. I have no
regrets.
: )
2. What is your favorite Strategy?
'Bait and Hook' - I love to set up a trap, even if the trap
is a bluff I usually can get away with it. Normally I do this with a
swarm deck or Mains and Toys.
3. Favorite line from the trilogy?
"Never tell me the odds."
4. Who is the better musician: Max or
Figrin?
Ohhh, ahhh... *slight hestitation* I've always wanted to be
the seventh Modal Node, but Max is my good luck charm. I'll say Figrin
*waiting for the wrath of the Ortolan*.
5. What character do you most identify yourself with?
R2-D2 since I tend to be a packrat. : )
6. First Main you pulled from a pack?
Luke Skywalker.
7. Under what circumstances did you get your first Darth Vader?
The local card store (then Premeire first came out) sold us 4
packs of Premeire for $10 (somtimes 5 packs depending on the mood of the
owner). I wheeled and dealed a box for about $85 bucks. I pulled Darth,
Tarkin, Han, Leia, Falcon, Devastator, Vader's TIE and saber, and other
good stuff. I still get giddy thinking about the pulls from that box.
: )
8. What card would you call the "Spawn of Satan?"
Bubo. This card has eaten through a lot of my decks.
9. What card would you call a "Gift from
God?"
Bubo. This card has eaten through a lot of my opponent's
decks.
10. What is your occupation?
My job title is 'Associate Scientist' since the company
doesn't have a title for Statisticians. :)
11. What instrument do you play?
Tenor Sax for the past 12 years, I've played mallet
instruments and misc. percussion for a few years as well.
12. How did you come about working with the
high school band?
After graduation from college, I started to live with my
parents as the job search continued. I met up with some folks that I was
in the band with, and they asked if I'd have time to help out with a band
camp that they were running. I figured this would get me out of the
house, thus... : ) It's a lot of fun, and releives a lot of
stress (try getting the atteniton of 150 high school kids sometime).
13. Where do you play SW:CCG?
The Game Parlor in Chantilly, Virginia. Our normal gaming night is Tuesdays
at 7:00pm. Email me for details. : )
14. How did you come to be a regular on the Discussion BBS?
I had been on the Trade BBS from ANH through graduation in
May of '97. Shortly after starting this job, I realized how much time was
required to run the programs that I wrote. The Trade BBS had changed
greatly and I started looking for a little more communication throughout
the day. People seemed nice on the Discussion BBS, so I starting to post
occassionally. After my first tourney in February, I got more involved,
started to ask/answer questions (frequently wrong, I might add). After
enough confidence (due to the BBS) I put in to become a TD. It's been a
lot of fun.
15. Who would win in a 3 way brawl? Godzilla,
Gamora, or Yoda?
Yoda. Gamora and Godzilla would probably be the end of each
other, so the passive style of Yoda would win. : )
16. Worst SWCCG blunder?
This past Sunday's tounrey, last game. I was playing Zippy's
Spaceport Plans deck (which I really enjoy playing). I put a Monk in the
Audience Chamber. I drained for a few turns. Then Pote Snitkin and 6
Skrillings decided to play
with the Monk (he kept SCrewing the Obi's out of my hand). For destiny I
drew a 1. :( That was painful, but considering that I had beaten
him by 44 a few months ago, I call it Payback.
17. What expansion are you looking MOST forward to?
Special Edition. I can't wait to get ahold of that rulebook.
: )
18. What do you think Kitik Keed Kak did to tick of Kal Fal?
I think it's the standard Freud problem of Kitik relating to
her mother. Since this is a "PG" page, we won't go into Freudian
psychology. : )
19. How do you think Decipher will handle
manipulation and Ast. Sanctuary?
Honestly, I have no idea. The new counters for inserts are
the best counters in the game. I like the Used/Lost interrupts and cancel
something as a Used, but can do somthing to enhance a strategy if
Lost.
20. What is the best voice impersonation you
can do?
Yoda I can do best, yes.
21. What card do you wish you could use in real
life? Why?
QJ might get upset if I said PLO or Jess, *grin* so I'd have
to say Tunnel Vision becuase I normally am forgetful. : )
22. Predictions about SE?
Things that I would like to see:
- a Jedi test that Obi could do on Tatooine
- a Dark Luke
- Lord Vader (to show his truely evil side in ESB)
- more incentive to play space decks
- more anti-spy stuff
- more musicians : )
Thanks for your time Statman. Is there anything
else you would like to add?
Thanks for the interview, and if there are any Statwomen in
the DC area... oops running joke. : )
