Interview with Queen Jawa

These interviews are meant to take an interesting look at those in the SW:CCG community that we know a little about. Hopefully these will reveal some new things about the people we talk to on the internet.

What do you like most about Star Wars in general?
I like the epic nature of the story. I love the fact that we get action, adventure, romance, war, the hunt, the capture, friendship, hate, good, and evil. Star wars truly is the mythology of our time. It captures the imagination and the human spirit, while reminding us that the beauty of the "human spirit" is captured in an infinite diversity of beings. I love the way it moves us to speculate about what might have happened before or after the little snippet of the story that Lucas let us see. Other than that, I love Star Wars because two of the coolest people I know love it too (Kelley Galvin and some guy I know).

What is your most prized card?
Right now, it's the WB Vader that you gave me in my Easter basket last April. When the stormtrooper auction Vader arrives, I'll have to reevaluate :-)

What is your favorite phrase?
If you're talking about a phrase that I say all of the time, I suppose it would be "hey, that could happen." If you mean a phrase that I would like to hear, it would be " Here's some free money."

What is your most favorite deck type to play?
Well, at this point I would have to give the nod to the Smoosh 'Em deck (which is on the Beakman's World decks page for the only human on the planet who hasn't see it yet). I like to play decks that are fun and that win. Maybe that's why I liked the OMDH deck so much. It allowed me to drain, battle, and watch the look on my opponents' faces when I retrieve a ton of force.

What do you want the most for Christmas?
A job that pays at least $25,000/year and has benefits. If Santa can't put that in his sack, I guess I'll settle for the Bare Naked Ladies CD and that cute hat we saw in the UF Bookstores a few weeks ago.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
Ummmm, with all of the Beavis and Butthead comments running around in my head, I simply can't think of anything seriously or witty to say.

What is the wierdest song you remember all (or most) of the words to?
*Tweet* There's a penalty for asking a loaded question that you already know the answer to. Eight years of summer camp and a steel trap memory has guaranteed a most bizarre musical selection. Here's one for all of the people out there who didn't already know I was a weirdo:*to be sung to the tune of I'm Looking Over a 4-Leaf Clover"

"I'm looking over
My dead dog Rover
That I overran with the mower.
One paw is missing,
The other is gone,
One paw is spread,
All over the lawn.
No need explaining,
The one remaining.
It's hanging on the kitchen door.
So I'm looking over,
My dead dog Rover,
That I overran with the mower.

However, a close second is the fact that I still remember all of the words to Ice, Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice.

Funniest SWCCG moment?
Good lord, as competitive as I am, I rarely find things especially funny in a game. However, I would have to say that the look on your face when my wampa ate your Commander Luke was pretty damn funny.

What point of advice would you give most people?
Just one piece advice for "most people"?!!! Ummm, OK, I got one: Pay attention. Most of the misery in the world - from SW:CCG woes, to trouble in traffic, to hurting other people's feelings - could be avoided if people would just *pay attention* to what's going on around them.

What card do you think is the spawn of Satan?
A Dangerous Time. Get your dirty hands off of my active pile!

What card do you think is a gift from God?
Den of Theives/Bargaining Table

How did you first discover you liked writing?
I don't remember. I've always loved it. From the days when my mom read my Yertle the Turtle a million times in a row just because I asked her to, I knew that I loved words.

Which of your articles is your personal favorite?
Queen Jawa Speaks About Real Life and SW:CCG. While not a controversial article, this one was fun to write and it was something that almost everyone could identify with. If we really could use Nabrum Leids to get from place to place, we would.

What is your favorite line from the Star Wars trilogy?
Funny line: "I am NOT a committee!" - Princess Leia
Serious line:"Luminous beings are we..." - Yoda

What SW:CCG card do you most look forward to Decipher making in future sets and why?
I don't know. I'm looking forward to something that cancels Imperial Decree, as well as a card that causes actually lightening to strike anyone who even thinks about creating sometime as evil as the baragwins on dagobah deck.

How do you think objectives will change the game?
Absolutely. But until Decipher makes cards that forces players to use objectives in their intended way, it won't necessarily be for the best. I think we'll see a lot of people use them to get out sites and characters, but never actually achieve the objective. I have to wonder what on earth Decipher was thinking, but they've done a pretty good job so far, so I'll trust them for now.

If you could kill a Baragwin, how would you do it?
Let me count the ways. There's broiled baragwin, baked baragwin, braised baragwin, poached baragwin, baragwin alfredo, deep fried baragwin, baragwin stew, mushrooms baragwin and mushrooms, deviled baragwin, barbecued baragwin, .........

In pure Star Wars terms, I'd like to see a baragwin trampled by an AT-AT with Dr. Evazon at the wheel.

Will you actually say "STAR DESTROYER!" to play that new card? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, skip this question?
Hell no.

Favorite childhood memory?
Living the Huck Finn life at my grandma's house on the St. Johns River. I climbed trees, caught fish, went swimming and canoeing, and played nighttime hide-and-go seek. Never before and never since has life ever been so simple and happy.

If you could only take one "thing" to a desert island, what would you take?
Do you count as a "thing?"

What kind of car do you have?
Ummm, I sense a set-up. I have a 1993 white Ford Mustang.

What's the cars name?
Oh yes, it was a set-up. The car's name is Nick.

How did it get that name?
Well, might as well tell the whole story.....I was sitting in a bar called the Copper Monkey with a drunk girl named Doreen. We were trying to finish the last pitcher of beer and eat a big basket of jalapeno poppers. She told me that cars should have "strong, male names" so I drunkenly suggested the name Nick - even sober it sounded cool, so the name stuck.

If you could make one card, what would it do?
One card? Geez, I don't know. If I was that cool, I'd be working right along side Jerry Darcy and Tom Lischke. I suppose I would make a card that is a sort of Takeel for character destiny numbers. It would allow you to switch the destiny numbers of your lowest three characters for the destiny numbers of the opponent's highest three characters. that would be a true deterrent to playing odds.

Who is your favorite Star Wars character?
I've always liked Han. Even those he was sometimes selfish, he stuck by his friends. Few things are more important to me than loyalty, so I can truly admire the fact that Han sacrificed so much for his friends. Of course, Chewie is probably an even better example of loyalty, but his butt isn't nearly as cute.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
I have a feeling that woodchucks are probably pretty lazy. I mean, they spend the whole day doing little rodent things, so when it comes to chucking wood, I suspect that they only chuck as much wood as is required for the boss not to question their wood chucking productivity.

What is your favorite thing about Beakman?
Of course I'll answer that. Chris has the most genuine laugh I've ever heard. Even though it's completely goofy, when Chris is amused or happy or joyful, his laugh tells the whole story. Chris is my best friend, and I love the fact that everything about him, including his laugh is completely honest.
