These interviews are meant to take an interesting look at those in
the SW:CCG community that we know a little about. Hopefully these will
reveal some new things about the people we talk to on the internet.
If you could be anyone in the Star Wars universe, who would you be and why?
Probably Wedge. I'm not much for being the center of attention, so I
doubt I'd have a starring role, but no one played a bigger supporting
role than Wedge. I've also always wanted to be a fighter pilot ever
since seeing Top Gun.
What was your favorite fairy tale or story when you were a little
boy?
Anything involving Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. I loved those cheesy
animated Christmas films.
What is your all-time favorite SW:CCG card?
How Did We Get Into This Mess? I love that card, a great line from the
movie as well. You really have to devote a lot of a deck to it but if
you use the droids well it can realy make a deck.
Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you going to be?
I am officially too old to dress up for Halloween (23 in November) and
it's a good thing because I was never very good at making a cool costume!
Does Zippy really look like Han Solo?
Yes, their likeness is remarkable, and by the way I look just like Tom
Cruise.
What is your greatest and/or coolest SW:CCG moment ever?
The last game of a 3 round tournament against arch rival and friend Chris Hall. It was the best tournament game I've ever played. Classic battle of Walker Garrison (me) against Dagobah Drain (him). Unfortunately this was before Imperial Decree so he had the upper hand but I pulled out every combo I had in my deck and a few I made up along the way. All in front of a small crowd that gathered to watch us play. Chris won the game and the tournament and ended up giving me half his prizes.
What do you want to be when you grow up.
When I grow up? (you sound like my mother) I think I would make a good
President of the United States. Mainly because I like to make decisions for others and don't like others making decisions for me! Although if all else fails I'll settle for marrying Katie Holmes and living happily ever after.
What SW:CCG card do you condiser to be a "gift from God?"
Houjix/Ghhhk. Can't say enough about these cards, they make many of my
decks possible and the more I learn about this game the more powerful I
realize these cards are. The ability to spread yourself thin and not
suffer when the "beatdown" arrives is glorious.
What SW:CCG card do you consider to be the "spawn of satan?"
Nabrun Leids/Elis Helrot. These cards bother me more than any other,
we've had 5 expansions and I still want a better counter to these. I'd
love an errata that added "during your move phase" before the start of
both of those cards.
What are you most looking forward to in Special Edition?
I'd really like a reason to use matching pilots in their starfighers. I love seeing Luke and R2 flying around in Red 5, and Wedge in Red 2, but w/ the game as it is now, there's really no incentive to use unique starfighters besides the Falcon when you've got awesome non-uniuqes like Red Squadron X-wings and Gold Squadron Y-wings.
What is you favorite commercial of all time?
Gotta be the Noxzema commercial with Rebecca Gayheart, she's very, umm,
talented.
What is the most of any one SW:CCG rare that you own?
Dianoga. At one time I tried to collect them, I got up to like 12 or so
and decided I didn't want to collect them anymore. Incidentally a friend of mine is cornering the market on Scuffy Looking Nerfherders, the price has gone up a dollar since he has started, get them while you can!
If you could make one SW:CCG rule that the Decipher guys were
guarenteed to put in Rules 2.0, what would the rule be?
My favorite house rule: If you can't calculate Braniac's power, you can't have him in your deck.
When you were a little boy, what was your favorite stuffed animal?
Monk. My stuffed Monkey. My brother and I would play stuffed animal soccer in our living room. Monk lead the stuffed animal soccer world in scoring countless times.
Tastes great or less filling?
Definitely less filling. I don't have much of a taste for watery domestic beer, I prefer my beer imported from Ireland.
Of all of the decks that you have ever made, which one was your favorite?
Very hard to say. I guess it's my Droid Spies Space deck. It took full advantage of Oh Switch Off to keep all my droid spies around. That deck won me many games against much better players when I really didn't have the cards to go around "Ground Pounding".
Which expansion was you favorite and why?
Hoth. I love everything about that expansion. It clearly lacked high power rares (especially LS) but I love the battleground of Hoth. The shield generators are cool, Snowspeeders, Blizzard Walkers, all that cool stuff. However Special Edition looks incredible promising!
Which expansion was your least favorite and why?
No contest, Dagobah. The same set brough us inserts, asteroid sanctuary and popularized turtle decks. Thankfully Jabba's Palace has managed to fix some of the damage.
Do you have any special or weird talents that we should know about?
The ability to hibernate is kind of special unless you're a bear of course.
Give us a little piece of faramir wisdom.
Winning isn't even close to everything. This is a game, and like all
other games it is to be played for fun. If you're not having fun, find a new hobby - there are plenty out there.
