Vine Snake

Deep in the tangled jungles of Dagobah lives an abundance of ophidian creatures commonly known as vine snakes. Though Dagobah is the planet most associate with the creatures, they can be found at virtually every planet site other those of Hoth. The slithery fellow isn't terribly dangerous, at least not if the determining factor is his pathetic ferocity of zero. He attacks by attaching to a character. Every move phase, destiny is draw and if destiny is greater than ability, one is added to "X." The character is power minus X, and is eaten if power equals zero. Against low ability, low power characters, the vine snake's gradual constriction doesn't take too long, and power 1, ability 1 characters are out of luck. Unfortunately for the snake, a defensive value of only three makes him good for a quick ambush - he's likely to be overpowered in no time.

But I've found a use for the fellow that you might think interesting. What if there was a non-droid character that you really wanted to get rid of ? What if that character was a main and for a brief window of time was power ZERO? Still not getting the picture? OK, picture Luke Skywalker balancing vulnerably upside down as master Yoda instructs him in the ways of the force. Wouldn't it be unfortunate if Luke, attempting to pass Jedi Test Five and rendered power zero, was to have a vine snake unexpectedly drop from above and immediately eat him? Unless Yoda is with Luke, the snake will inevitably put an end to all training right then and there. No destiny, no struggle, just an immediate trip to the lost pile. Later in the training process, it's common to see Yoda moved out of the backpack Luke is wearing and put at his hut where he can reduce attrition - making the attack possible. Sure it's a long shot, but wouldn't it be cool to see -- the hopes of the Rebellion crushed by a reptile.
