The pieces have suddenly begun falling together. Even though I believe the design of the Rebel pilots to be one of Deciphers best blunders, JP and the second anthology have made the jiggsaw pieces fit tighter. Mon Mothma (not to be confused with Mothra of Godzilla Fame) allows you to deploy a non-unique rebel from the reserve deck. This is the equivalent to the "Wind Chimes" except it cannot be sensed. Speaking of the wind chimes, this card allows for force retrieval in our non-unique pilot deck. Deploy 10 of those pilots and welcom back 10 force for a late game bonus.
The capital ship we all waited for so long, the Mon Cal cruisers, have aided in the creation of this deck. While the deployment restrictions to a rebel base or Mon Calmari is not as versitile as its counterpart, the Imperial Class Star Destroyer, haven makes this deck work like a charm. Suddenly those capitals deploy for 5 and those non-unique pilots for 1. Much faster deployment than what the Darkside could muster for 6 force... to get a destiny draw. And as a bonus, Mothma also subtracts from your opponents battle destiny in space when she's at a war room. How nice!
Perhaps the final piece to make this deck work was Yarna da Gargan. She keeps all those non-uniques safe from the dreaded monnok.
Mon Mothma does have her weak points though. At 5 force, she's almost worth a star cruiser. She's power 2 and ability 3 with no attrition immunity, meaning she's going to need some backup to make the dark side think twice about deploying a spy on her. And worse yet, in order to remove from destiny draws in space, she has to be at a war room. Fancy that the dark side gets to add one battle destiny when initiating a battle at the two rebel war rooms thus far.
Spy killers, such as revealed, ambush, and others may not be such a bad as protection as well.
Overall, Mothma is a great card that could give the Light Side a much needed boost after two sets reinforcing the Dark Side's power. Imperial Decree may still be a problem. The manipulator may still bring havok, but things are beginning to look up for our heroes.
