Although SE will undoubtedly change the game, I have a feeling that the biggest impact will come from Rules 2.0 and the new glossary. We've already been told that the new rules will make the activation of each individual card a separate action, create used, lost, active, and reserve piles even when no cards are in them, and make Tallon Roll accomplishable only by TIE/LNs. These are big changes to the game, and are likely only the tip of the iceberg.
There are a great number of things that the Rules 2.0 will clear up, and I look forward to that. But I have a funny feeling that in a little less than a week, the listserv and BBS is going to be chock full of players angry or confused as to why Decipher made one ruling or another. After all of this time, you would think that Decipher would have realize how very attached long-time players often are to the rules that make this game playable. Moff Phrim has often referred to the rules as being "elegant." I have a sneaky suspicion that much of the elegance will disappear as Decipher seeks to madly hack away at the rules and make it easier for newcomers to understand complicated game mechanics in a shorter amount of time.
Although I still believe that we should all withhold judgement about the new rules until we've actually read them, I also think we should be wary. Although I will enjoy ripping opening my SE packs, my first big project is going to be reading the new rules book cover to cover.
