About the Boston Classical Guitar Society

The Boston Classical Guitar Society is a nonprofit organization with a membership of about 200. Our mission is to bring an awareness of the classical guitar to communities and individuals in the Boston area. Since its founding in 1977, BCGS has also provided a forum and community for members who wish to connect with other guitar enthusiasts. These goals are accomplished by:

Concerts:

Each season BCGS sponsors a splendid array of concerts featuring both promising young artists just beginning their careers and internationally-acclaimed musicians. Members receive discounts to BCGS-hosted events as well as concerts sponsored by other performing arts organizations such as the BankBoston Celebrity Series.

Newsletters:

A bimonthly newsletter presents music and concert reviews, biographies, and informational articles on the guitar and the study of this instrument. The newsletter also provides an extensive calendar listing of guitar-related concerts, masterclasses, competitions, festivals and conventions.

Performance Parties:

Each month, BCGS organizes gatherings for members at all levels of guitar playing skill. These gatherings provide an opportunity for members to meet each other and allow amateurs to gain performance experience in a supportive environment. Guests (non-guitarists) are welcome to attend!
