Ideas on how to make designs more "you"
Always remember that a pattern is a guide line. The finished product is something that will go in your home, or will be given to someone that you know, and care about.
There is nothing wrong with experimenting to change something that you think could be better.
This is "Dream a Little", a Jiffy kit by Sunset. The original is on the left, my version is on the right.
I felt that the sky was too dark, and the hummingbird, at least, was too light.
In this design, 1 strand was called for in most of the pattern, which made softening the sky a tad more difficult.
I played with half stitches. The sky colors are in the direction of the bottom leg, the leaves are in the direction of the top leg. This made the sky fade termendously, and the leaves fade some.
I did the flowers as the pattern recommended.
To make the hummingbird and butterfly stand out more, I used 2 strands instead of 1.
Thankfully, I achieved the look I was going for.
