"The Grafted Branch"

bar

Sons are a heritage from the Lord,
children a reward from him.

Psalm 127:3

bar

To An Adopted Child
I
did not plant you,
true.
But when
the season is
done --
when the
alternate
prayers for sun
and for rain
are counted --
when the pain
of weeding
and the pride
of watching
are through --
then
I will hold you
high:
a shining sheaf
above the
thousand
seeds grown wild;
not my planting,
but by heaven
my harvest --
my own child.

Carol Lynn Pearson

Our garden has grown not from the planting of seeds, but from the grafting of branches. Our two beautiful daughters, ages 13 and 9, came to us at birth through private adoption.

We know our children are a precious gift from God, and we think adoption is something to celebrate!

We have always celebrated our adoption days as we do birthdays, complete with cake, and presents, and singing, as the days our children were "born" into our family.

We have always celebrated our adoption stories too, in great detail that our children want to hear over and over again-- their very own tales of love and adventure.

Though their level of understanding and their needs will surely grow as they continue to mature, we strive to instill in our children a strong sense of family and a strong relationship with God, who gives us a divine perspective on the significance of adoption....

for he predestined us to be adopted
as his sons through Jesus Christ,
in accordance with his pleasure and will.

Ephesians 1:5

It's a wonderful thing for our children to know that they are adopted, not only into our family, but into His.
