STATS
Info current as of: 10-12-01. Last visit date: 10-12-01. When Built/Opened:_______ Who Built:_________ Size: Mid-size. Difficulty: 3 (On a scale of 1-5, 5 being difficult) Fun: The group I brought really enjoyed the park. "Track" and curb encircle the entire park which is fun. The bowls are very organic shaped, curvy and different. Lots of space to get up speed. Helmets: Recommended but not required. Always bring one just in case. Supervised: No. Bikes: The sign says "no bikes allowed," but it is a biker's park, expect to skate with bikers. Hours open: 8am-9pm (or dusk, whichever comes first). Lights for night: No. Covered: No. Cleanliness: Lots of tagging, trash and even people peeing in the bushes. Friendliness: Depends on the day. Sometimes there can be kinda rude and antagonizing jerks just trying to pick a fight, some of them don't even skate but just come to hang. On other visits, we have found the park full of serious yet tolerable skaters. Misc: Maybe it would be O.K to bring young kids here early in the day, leave before 11am. There is a small playground. The restrooms are dark, dirty and occasionally closed. No drinking fountain. No benches or picnic tables. Must park a little ways from park, can't watch skaters from car (can't watch your car from the park, don't leave obvious valuables in car here). Water Works Park is a pretty park, filled with big, old growth firs and lawn, but unfortunately, it is also full of drunks, drug dealers, panhandlers and an occasional bicycle cop talkiing to these folks. |
