What the !@# is Snow Skating?!
Stopped in at NRC Board shop in Sandy, just to check the shop out and was introduced to this new sport. They sell the gear for "it", have videos of people doing "it", knew all sorts of info about "it." I was majorly intrigued, living with a skateboarder in rainy Oregon in the winter is no pic-nic and this new sport looks like it could be the answer.

Now, if only I could find some decent links and pics to turn you onto, so you too can learn about "it." In doing a search on Snow Skating, all I found was the in-line skater's equivalent-yikes. Until I find some good links for you, you'll just have to settle for my own feeble verbal explanation, sorry.

The board is a little larger than a skateboard and made of a molded plastic.
Unlike Snowboarding, there are no bindings so you are free to do flip tricks and ollies, just like on a skateboard.
Unlike Skateboarding, there are no trucks or wheels on the board (duh).
I was told there are actual Snow Skate courses now set-up at the ski resorts.
You can buy a Snow Skate board from NRC for $40 and you are set. (Well, you'll need warm, dry clothes and a lift ticket which I was told is only $5 for this sport and a ride up the mountain). Sounds much more affordable than snowboarding.

Slowly finding some links...
