Kavungal branch is actually a sub branch of the Puthuparambil branch starting from Okanda the second son of Puthuparambil Chandy (3rd generation). Okanda had four sons and the families from all four were substantially spread well. Hence the early fathers considered all these four sub branches under separate names. The history of the 'Kavungal' branch starts from Chandy, the eldest son of Okanda, who moved from Ayroor Puthuparambil and settled in Kavungal. Chandy's wife was Puthanavalikkal Mariamma and they had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Chandy died in his prime middleage due to a snake bite.
