The history of the 'Nellikkal' branch starts from
Mathai, the fifth son of Thomas of the
3rd generation. While his brothers moved north in search of farm lands, Mathai
setlled in Nellikkal on the southern side of the Pamba river for the
sake of business. In those days the boats were the main mode of
transportation to places like Alleppey.
He had 2 sons, Thomas and
Mathai. Thomas had just 5 daughters. As time passed Thomas sold
his property in Vazhakunnam and moved to Keekozhur. His brother Mathai
continued living in Vazhakunnam and proved to be an active religious and
social figure.
