STL Time Machine Report #28 - Tuesday 01 September 1998 (1998-09-01) The Time Machine is running on current date at the moment, while they resynchronize it to production libraries. A lot of systems have been upgraded recently, and the Time Machine has to run with current production programs. Testing will run for a couple of months, and then a re-test of all the mission-critical applications together. All the the mission-critical apps are installed and Time Machine tested, but I've just found two non-mission critical programs that have not been remediated yet. One is used in a weekly report we were trying to shut down for a year, but they have since found who's using it, so now it has to be fixed. The other program is OS/VS COBOL, and our business rules require it to be converted to COBOL II. It has its own logic for generating an MMDDYY date from a julian DDD date with no year. Sometimes it must subtract 1 from the current YY to fill out the MMDDYY date. Subtracting '01' from Year '00' in COBOL will give you an answer of year '01', instead of the expected year '99'. Previous Time Machine Reports are available at: http://home.att.net/~arnold.trembley/tmr.htm As of 1998-09-01, My countdown now reads: 122 days until 1999-01-01 (Everybody should start testing) 487 days until 2000-01-01 (Rollover) STANDARD DISCLAIMER: I am NOT an official corporate spokesperson, and my opinions should not be held against my benevolent employer. -- Arnold Trembley http://home.att.net/~arnold.trembley/ "Y2K?
