Arnold J. Trembley, Libertarian for Missouri State Senate

I'm running as a Libertarian for Missouri State Senate, District 24, which includes Creve Coeur and University City in St. Louis County. If you would like some biographical information about me, Click Here.

Note that I am NOT accepting contributions from Political Action Committees. I have received survey requests from 15 special interest groups so far, and I have mailed responses to them. Transcripts of my survey responses are available below.

Here are the election results, confirmed on Wednesday, 04 November 1998, from the Missouri Secretary of State's web page:

(Rep) Betty Sims (Incumbent) 25,269 54.25%
(Dem) Howard Shalowitz 19,991 42.92%
(Lib) Arnold J. Trembley 1,320 2.83%

My total campaign expenses (excluding filing fee) amounted to less than $100, and included a $24 fee to participate in one debate.

The Primary Election was held Tuesday, August 4, 1998. Since I was unopposed in the primary, I will be the Libertarian candidate. I have not yet received the certified results, but I believe I received 68 votes.

I have been endorsed by Missouri Citizens for Educational Freedom.

The Republican incumbent is Betty Sims. She defeated John B. Lewis by 5,167 votes to 4,992 votes in a very close primary challenge.

The Democratic party candidate is Howard Shalowitz. I think he received about 6270 votes in his unopposed primary.

The Candidates' debate was held Wednesday, October 14, 1998, at the Olivette Community Center at 7:00 PM. It was my first opportunity to meet my opponents face-to-face. The debate was sponsored by the League of Women Voters, who really know how to run a debate.
