Against Barnhard Casino, Inc. (ABC) is a non-profit group aimed at educating Jefferson County residents concerning the facts about casino gambling.

Positions of candidates on issues should be known by the voting public. We are submitting a questionnaire for you to complete on the important issue of gambling.

Gambling was studied for two years and there have been recommendations in the National Gambling Impact Study Commission's Final Report which can be found on the internet at http://govinfo.library.unt.edu/ngisc/index.html.
Legalized gambling impacts all of us. Our organization as well as others who work with us are very interested in your position on this issue. Responses will be posted on our web site at http://www.againstbarnhartcasino.org.

Please answer the following questions and return your responses in the attached stamped envelope before October 18, 2002. We value your replay on gambling issues that will impact the citizens of Jefferson County. Thank you in advance for your response on this critical issue.

Would you vote for placing the burden of gambling's negative socioeconomic costs of addiction, bankruptcies, crime, corruption, divorces, embezzlements, fraud, suicides, etc. directly on the gambling establishments, promoters, and gamblers?

YES, however, if I am elected State Auditor I will not have the ability to vote on legislation.


Would you vote for a moratorium or pause in the expansion of gambling?

YES, however, if I am elected State Auditor I will not have the ability to vote on legislation.


Should gambling interests such as casinos, race tracks, etc. be involved in educational programs on gambling in our schools?

NO


In the last 2 years, I visited or gambled at a casino ZERO times.
