Ennis is trying to make up his mind whether he wants to embark on a show career, or whether he would prefer to stay at home and bark at the squirrels. In the mean time, he's content to let his brother, Brandon, stay out on the road being a "show boy". In fact, Ennis thinks that it's a good thing that his brother is gone - that way, he gets a bigger chunk of the bed.
