Raggedy Ann's Story

She's not Raggedy Annie anymore

Shadagee's Rescued Raggedy Ann - a Princess at last

Annie was rescued in Livingston Co. New York in September of 1997. She was first brought in to the rescue program by Jann White, and was fostered for four months by Debbie and Tim Burke. When she was rescued, she weighed 40 pounds, had conjunctivitis, a golf-ball sized draining abscess on her side (that eventually was surgically removed), a urinary tract infection, nightmares - and she developed kennel cough and pneumonia.

A special home was found for this red headed beauty, with Judy Britt and her family in western North Carolina. Judy states that when she talked with her husband, Tony, about adopting her, he said, "We don't need another dog, do we?", to which she responded, "No, but she needs us". Judy just had a "feeling" about Annie -- like the feeling she's had with every other Irish they've adopted. They brought her home in mid-January, where she joined a family of one other rescue Irish (Rusty), and two "second-hand" Irish (Erin and Cinder).

Since then, her health has continued to improve, she has grown a beautiful coat, she has joined the rotation with the other three dogs doing "pet visits" to a local nursing home where she charms all the residents and staff; has acquired an ILP number and begun a career in obedience competition.
