Dr.
Theodore Dean Kessis, Ph.D.
Curriculum Vitae
Dr.
Kessis received his Bachelors of Science from the Ohio State University in 1983 and his
Doctorate of Philosophy in Molecular Virology from the Johns Hopkins University in
1993.
Following
completion of his degrees he continued his studies as a Richard F. Telinde fellow at the
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Department of Pathology. During this
period of time he furthered his investigations into the link between Human Papilloma
Viruses (HPV) and cervical cancer, ultimately leading to the publication of this work in
more than twenty scientific journal articles and its presentation at numerous
international meeting. Two of these studies, published in the Proceedings of the
National Academies of Science, proposed and described the currently accepted mechanism by
which HPVs are believed to facilitate the tumorigenesis process. In 1996 Dr. Kessis
was appointed as a faculty member at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
Since 1994,
Dr. Kessis has been successfully serving the legal community providing case consultation,
review, and court qualified testimony and expert opinions in numerous cases in which DNA
analysis has been utilized for the purposes of forensic identification .
