Apex Windsurfing Beginnings

Hello, I'm Dave Marshall....I began the sport of Windsurfing on a cold March day in a rented wetsuit and a Mistral Kailau longboard, you guessed it.....the year was 1981. My full time job is as a Programmer at a large RTP Firm. I am a hooked windsurfing aficionado. I started " Apex Windsurfing" several years ago as a vehicle to launch my Windsurfing teaching career, truly a bright spot in my life. My goal was then and still remains: to promote my Sport of Windsurfing and my club....Triangle Board Sailing Club in the RTP, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area of central North Carolina. The Windsurfing business is currently run out of my home (shed in the back yard with a few boards) in Apex North Carolina....

I was Certified as a US Sailing Windsurfer Instructor five years ago by Master Instructor Eric Matsson at Okracoke NC. (Eric Owns and operates Okracoke Outdoors and is the Jibe Mechanic.) I have been teaching Winsurfing for about 10 years now and my Student count to date is in the hundreds...

My goal is to attract new sailors into the sport by offering low cost windsurfing rentals and beginner windsurfers (longboards) with a performance rig (Mast, Clamp-on Boom, and Camber-or-RAF sail) for sale for under $400.00. Since I have a full time Job...I can afford to run the business as a hobby, rather than a serious money making operation.

It has been a real pleasure to sail with the folks in this area (TBC) I feel it is my privledge to give somthing back to the sport by teaching beginners and offering a low cost alternative for buying equipment.
