MEG'S GARDENS

what goes into a Meg Ryan
what makes her so attractive to me
something in her smile
the way she waves her hand
the wrinkle in her nose
I feel I understand
she does not try to reach beyond her means
and loves herself for fulfilling her dreams

something so real about the way she looks
something so vulnerable and true
emotion fills her face every moment
awareness, that's it, she has the clue
as if her life is just perfect
as if she has it all figured out
what a fantasy to project on me
that's what it's all about

so I thank you meg Ryan
for making it on your own
for bringing your child to the screen
knowing we're all alone
and yet still sharing every moment
connected to everything we can feel
and beyond all we know
making the illusion real

every muscle tenses with expectation
acutely vulnerable and true
emotion lights her face every moment
expression, that's it, each moment new
as if she can trust unconditionally
as if that is all she lives for
what a fantasy to project on me
no wonder I so easily adore

the image of Meg Ryan
and all you represent to me
maybe one day a dream will come true
and we could become a we
as friend or family or lover
can a soulmate be found with the eyes
I believe we'd understand each other
it may come as a surprise

unconditional trust
unconditional love
it is possible to share
right here, right now
we can make the fairy tale come true
if you believe in me as much as I believe in you
maybe you're just a dream Meg Ryan
but you're a dream I wish would come true
maybe you're just a dream Meg Ryan
but I'd love to share this dream with you

and if it's all a dream, Meg Ryan
tonight I will be dreaming of you

Meg Ryan
