THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...)
and today is so much better
that I can look at the past
and remember all the hardships
wondering how long I'd last
without fearing going under
for I've made it to the shore
and now when sail out to sea
it's for pleasure, nothing more
used to be so lost
I couldn't find myself
didn't have a moment
to think or feel
put all of my meaning
up on a dark shelf
just struggling to survive
feeling so surreal
and today is so much better
that I can remember when
all I could feel was pain and I
thought I'd never smile again
yesterday I was so depressed
I felt nothing but afraid
now though I still don't have much
I feel like I've got it made
and the mountains ahead
are no longer looming
I look forward to challenges
with hope and peace
and the valleys are greener
my journey's just begun
my heart is a love song
ready for release
so today is so much better
that I can smile at the fears
for now I am seeing rainbows
where there once was only tears
and I feel each day is better
as new dreams replace the old
the blessing is I'm still learning
a live heart is never cold
when we lose our way
our heart continues beating
when we give up on ourselves
it's our heart we are defeating
when we feel like we're not feeling
deep inside our heart still knows
that the chill is on the outside
while inside the blood still flows
yes the heart continues beating
even when nobody knows
and today my heart is beating
loud and clear and free and strong
full of joy and hope for for everyone
that's the message of my song
and today my heart is peaceful
as pain fades, love is secure
I wish everyone could feel it
peace and pleasure, like before
as the child can dream once more
as my heart can love once more
