...THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE...
THE WRITTEN GARDENS...THE WRITTEN GARDENS...THE WRITTEN GARDENS...THE WRITTEN GARDENS
BARBARA'S GARDENS

like water flows over pebbles in rushing streams
like glaciers crawl so slowly it takes eons to show
time moves along carrying hopes and fears and dreams
and feelings cling to time, some won't let go

so I still love you
my first best friend
and I remember
how we promised
love would never end

and it turned out true
for here I am
feeling memory
washing over me
like waves on sand

though others have come along to share this life
a husband for you, and for me a wife
and children who inspired the deepest love of all
still sometimes I hear your soft voice call

can you come out to play
whatcha wanna do today
time moves so fast sometimes
no matter what's in it's way
and sometimes it seems to stand still
paused in yesterday
like it does today

like water falls over the edge into deep pools
like lava inches it's way down a mountainside
time moves along washing away wise men and fools
and feelings cling to time, some won't be denied

so I still love you
my first best friend
and I remember
how we promised
love would never end

and it turned out true
for here I am
feeling memory
washing over me
like waves on sand

though years have filled out hearts and minds with many things
victories and tragedies and other songs to sing
we rush through life, come and go, rare for one to stay
still sometimes I hear your soft voice say

can you come out to play
whatcha wanna do today
time moves so fast sometimes
no matter what's in it's way
and sometimes it seems to stand still
paused in yesterday
like it does today

on the coldest of nights
the memories can keep me warm
they still inspire a smile
when I feel forlorn
and love is still the shelter
that weathers any storm
that's why I want to celebrate
the day you were born

like water falls returns to caress the shore
like stars appear in place through eternity
time moves along and we seem to always wwant some more
sometimes blinks we can not see
still feelings cling to time, in memory

so I still love you
my first best friend
and I remember
how we promised
love would never end

and it turned out true
for here I am
feeling memory
washing over me
like waves on sand

though years have given patters to our lives and ways
and some things we can be sure of as inner music plays
still we can not predict what any tomorrow may yet bring
and sometimes I hear your soft voice sing

can you come out to play
whatcha wanna do today
time moves so fast sometimes
no matter what's in it's way
and sometimes it seems to stand still
paused in yesterday
like it does today

so I just came to say
Happy Birthday
I just want to say
Happy Birthday

Time
