...THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE... (I HOPE...) THERE'S ALWAYS HOPE...
THE WRITTEN GARDENS...THE WRITTEN GARDENS...THE WRITTEN GARDENS...THE WRITTEN GARDENS

AMY'S GARDENS

to the friend you could have been

bright flowers bloomed on the day we met
hope filled the air with light
leavening was not needed
for the bread to rise

excitement exploded on the day we touched
love filled our eyes with tears
promises were not needed
for the trust to grow

amazement begot confusion on the day we loved
desire was torn between poles
understanding was losing
to the questions not asked
and the answers ignored

want in, want out
want more, want less
too much you
not enough me
and in the end
we lost a friend

the intention was to share truth
we fell in love
the intention was to share trust
we did not (we took for granted)
the intention was not to harm
we harmed anyway
the intention was to stay close
we fell apart (fell unenchanted)

from me to you
from you to me
for the moment
for eternity

to the friend you could have been
that love divided
that trust repelled
that truth insulted
that lust felled

I hope you are happy now
