Barton S. Kyle (1825-1862)
In 1848 was made Deputy U.S. Marshall for southern Dist. of Ohio.
Barton S. Kyle married Margaret McNabb, only daughter of A.W.McNabb of
Staunton Twp. (Troy Times, 5-15-1851)
Delegate to Republican Convention in 1856, nominating Fremont (Lewis's
Genealogical & Biographical Record of Miami Co.,O. , 1900)
Clerk of Miami Common Pleas Court - 1859.
President of Board of Education
Raised 71st Regiment (Civil War)
Lt.Col. Barton S. Kyle killed at Shiloh. Apr6-7,1862
On April 17,1862, Troy Council appointed Dr.M.L.Harter, Solomon Drury and
B.F. Coolidge by steamboat from Cincinnati to bring back the body. Kyle
was one of the best-loved men in Troy. An account of his funeral is
given in Wheeler's "Troy the 19th Century" pages 95-96.
