Restaurant Reviews

 Elegante by E.J.

I just dined at Elegante, a pizza parlor located in Rockaway, on Beach Channel Drive.  It’s more than a pizza place!  This restaurant makes Italian dishes, soup and a Three Musketeer dish that includes seafood, chicken and veal, all cooked to perfection by Chef Toto.  All of the pizza dough is made from scratch and the tomato sauce is, too.  My favorite dish is the mini pie with extra cheese. On a scale of 1 - 10, I would rate this restaurant a 10+, not because my uncle owns it, but because the food is fantastic.  I like the food so much that I decided to show you some photos.  When you see this food, you'll just have to try it!

Popp's Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor  by Madeline

Pop’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor was founded in Woodhaven, Queens, New York in 1907 by Andrew Popp.  It started out as a bar called Popp’s Cafe.  In the 1920’s they couldn’t sell liquor so it was changed to a candy and ice cream parlor.  It remained unchanged until 1979 when it was changed to a restaurant.  Only three families have owned Popp’s for 91 years.  It has beautiful , old woodwork and a stamped tin ceiling.  From their omelettes to their burgers they have good service and GREAT food.
I love to go to POPP’S because I can sit on the spinning stools at the counter and eat hot fudge sundaes with piles of whipped cream!

Master Buffet by Julie

Master Buffet is a new restaurant on 39-23 Queens Blvd.  It serves Chinese food and Italian food. Senior citizens and 10 years and under are only $8.00. For adults it’s $10.00 plus a dollar extra for drinks.  It’s all you can eat! I like the Chinese food so much I haven’t even tried the Italian food there yet. My favorite is Chicken on a Stick.  It’s chicken fried and barbecued and put on a stick.  Everything is so tasty. But watch out for the Sesame Chicken! Sometimes it’s spicy. There is lot’s of room for seating and there is no smoking allowed.   You have so many choice’s of dessert. You could have Jell-O, fruit, cake, or ice-cream. The toppings for the ice-cream are chocolate syrup, sprinkles, marshmallows, coconut and more! Sometimes the toppings change so don’t be disappointed if the topping you want is not there at the time you go.  This restaurant is definitely worth checking out!

Parkside  Restaurant by Dana

Parkside Restaurant, located in Queens,  has excellent food prepared just the way you like it.   Food is served in a warm, cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.  Two of my favorite dishes are stuffed shells and lasagna.   Their menu, however, gives you a full variety of Italian, American, or seafood entrees.   Waiters are polite, friendly, and helpful.  There's live music on Fridays and Saturdays.  Parkside Restaurant caters parties, large or small, for any occasion.  Why not recommend Parkside to a friend?

A & J Pizza by Lauren

A&J is a pizza parlor on Austin Street in Forest Hills. The food is great! My favorite dish is the pepperoni pizza with extra cheese, but there are all different types of pizzas.  There's the multi-vegetable, mushroom and onion, white cheese pizza, marsala, Sicilian, green peppers and black olives, anchovies, garlic and meatballs, and last but not least, the house special which has everything on it.

Salerno's by Kaitlyn

Salerno’s has great food. You can have soup, side dishes, salad, and your main course. For people who don’t eat much you can have 2 appetizers. You could have a dinner for 2, 4, 6, and 8. You  can bring the whole family. There's a private room for big parties with  room for about 50 people.  There's also a private parking lot for your car.  Did I mention that they have telephones and a place to check your coat?  Anything you order will be delicious.  If I had to rate this restaurant from 1-10 I would give Salerno’s a 10.

Danny's Szechuan by Brendan

Danny’s  Szechuan is a Chinese restaurant. They have seafood, too. My favorite dishes are Wok and Steak Kow.   The dish has rice, chicken, carrots and gravy. The Steak Kow has steak, gravy, carrots and peas. From a scale from 1-10 I’d give it a 9. This is Brendan Oakley, with a review on Danny’s Sezchuan.

The Pasta Cafe  by Sophia

The Pasta Cafe on Jamaica Ave. is a friendly place where you can bring family and friends.  This is an Italian Restaurant that has food from pasta to pizza.  It is clean and quiet. The waiters and waitresses are nice. My favorite dish is Penne with clam sauce.  If I were to rate it from 1-10 I’d give it a 10.  I recommend it highly. I hope to see you there!

     Primavera by Christine

Anyone who likes authentic northern Italian food must visit the “Primavera” restaurant in Glen Clove, Long Island. This 3 1/2 star restaurant has a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The food and service are excellent. Most of the time a reservation is not necessary. The reasonable prices are a real bonus! The relaxing decor is inviting whether on a date or out for a family meal.

Sakura Garden Japanese Restaurant by Michael

I like Sakura Garden because the food is very good.  It has a lot of different rices and California rolls are good.  I was surprised that I liked the California roll because because it has raw fish, avocado and cucumber in it.  The type of rice that I like the best is fried rice.  I also liked the restaurant because there are Hibachi tables.  The food is cooked right in front of you.  I would bring children of all ages there.  The only thing to remember is that all children should know not to touch the Hibachi tables. They are very hot!

 Zum Stammtisch by Sarah

In the name,  Zum Stammtisch, Stamm means tribe, race, family and Tisch means table. When you put the two together, you get "family table".   When I went with my family, the restaurant forgot to give me the kid’s menu.  I had to ask for it.  That menu always has pictures on it and they give you crayons to draw and match the picture.  I ordered the smoked trout as an appetizer.  It really is cooked well.  It does taste smoky.  I also had the vegetable soup which was also good. It was very creamy but had a lot of peas in it.  Then I had a cheeseburger and ordered it medium. That, too, was good.  It's nice to know that if you  order your burger to be "medium",  you get medium.  We were in the non-smoking section but there is a smoking section for smokers.   Even if you don’t like German food, you should still eat here.  There are lots of choices. Not only is the food good, but so is the service.
