Mini Tesla Coil Page
Mini Coil and pickup coil.
I made this Mini TC out of leftover wire and whatever else was handy.
It would be a great little test rig for a solid state supply.

Misc. photos 2 inch coil:
Latest test below using 2" X 10" plex secondary and sync rotary gap
2 inch coil with micro SRSG. Best arc so far is 18.5".
Note the direct strike to MMC caps on left. There were many strikes with no ill effects to caps.
The sync gap really makes it come alive. This was the first test. Some thicker wiring is needed.
This one shows a direct strike to the rotary spark gap.
The bottom half of the secondary is liberally gooped up with spray silicon conformal coating and hot melt glue.

The primary is made of 12 gauge magnet wire, I had in stock.

The two coils have different size torroids, giving them different resonant frequencies. I should have matching torroids for best performance.
It's a small one but, I didn't skip the protection chokes or RFI filter. There is a 10 amp magnetic breaker on the control box. The solid state relay is next to the spark gap on right. The rolled cap is on the left.
