First outdoor test went great, untill my neighbor called the cops! The police were very professional and really curious. They seemed to think it was funny when I told them it was for "entertainment". They just said " be safe" and took off.
 This coil uses my X-pig transformer for the stepup transformer. I have finally aquired a 230 AMP, sliding shunt welder for use as a ballast. The sliding shunt  are great! Easy adjustment allows fine tuning, much easier than other types of ballast.
  Work is progressing, hopefully I will have 10' spark photos soon.
 
 

8 inch secondary on Quick tube form.  Approx. 1600 turns of #24 AWG wire.

2 layer primary packs more inductance in a small space. It also has the advantage of using less material for the same inductance.
