The Section has most of its members supporting the Army and NASA , here in Huntsville , Alabama. In addition to these government organizations, there are several big industrial companies and many little ones. Huntsville was just a wide spot on the road around here before WW II and Redstone Arsenal, when the German rocket scientists came here. Now the area has over a quarter million people, mostly professionals, and growing. Due to all the technology around, Huntsville is a good place for an engineer or scientist to spend a lifetime.

We also have two large universities. The UAH student group is active.

Some engineers are part-time teachers at UAH's Electrical & Computer Engineering. or at UAH's Continuing Education. Some are also members and active volunteer with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Alabama Section, the Huntsville Area Technical Societies (HATS) organization, the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce Engineering, Science and Technology Committee. There are several Toastmasters International clubs, and many, many churches.

Some engineers have made a commitment to health and fitness, lifting weights and doing aerobics or some sort of aerobic activity such as bike riding with very active local bikers.
