Wah Yan College Commemoration

 

This poem is dedicated to Rev. Fr. Deignan, in honour of your long time outstanding contributions to Wah Yan College. We would like to express our fathomless gratitude for your superb guidance and untiring effort in the past, and for many more years to come.

 

The poem is uniquely composed with a leading Chinese character for every verse in forming a sequence entitled “Wah Yan College Commemoration”. The following is a figurative translation from the Chinese lyrics, not meant to portray a rhythmic English version:

 

Wah Yan is proud to be a world-renowned College, promoting love and kindness to all corners of the earth. The school teaching has set a high standard to develop intellect, to foster virtue and honesty. The campus is thankfully blessed with God’s grace and enlightenment, delivering scholars, professionals, and others who all strive to benefit and serve society well.

 

During this joyful celebration, we unite our thoughts, in person or from afar, to recall the fond memories of our good young days, to strengthen our friendship and to say thanks to our benevolent spiritual fathers and teachers. Together, we cherish and pray for the lasting Wah Yan heritage and spirit!
