St. Louis Section AIChE Officer Duties (estimate of hours/month)
Ø Motivate and encourage other officers to support and
organize activities.
Ø Submit annual registration report to the Missouri Secretary
of State by August 31.
Ø Call and conduct meetings.
Ø Maintain communication between section and AIChE.
Ø Submit slate of officers to AIChE.
Ø Prepare the Annual Report to AIChE
with help of treasurer.
Ø Make appointments to local committees, such as Membership, Professional.Development, and Public Relations.
Ø Receive bi-annual section member rosters from AIChE.
Ø Writes and issues the monthly newsletter via e-mail.
Ø Designs the programming schedule with input from the section
officers.
Ø Schedules officers meetings (2-3/year).
Ø Reviews the necessary action items at the regularly
scheduled officers meeting.
Ø Has signature authority for the bank account
Ø Responsible for regularly reviewing the section financial
condition with the treasurer.
Ø
Provides objective advice to officers offering insights
and comments about section activities and organizational practices.
Ø
Execute special projects as deemed important to the
section
Ø Mails the paper copies of the newsletter.
Ø Keep and distribute executive committee section meeting
minutes.
Ø Records the action items from previous meetings.
Ø Maintains section files (most are current):

Section
charter and by-laws
·
Meeting
minutes
·
Financial
statements and records
·
Submit
information for Annual report (number of meetings and attendees at functions)
and section history
·
Section
meeting announcements and newsletters
·
Tax exempt,
legal, and incorporation documents
·
Communications,
correspondence, and other pertinent information
Ø Correspond with speakers/AIChE.
Ø Provide updates to AIChE officer changes.
Ø Work with AIChE to arrange local section dues, accounting,
and remittance.
Ø Maintain copies and records of all transactions.
Ø Receive account statements and checks (Dues and Mailing
Allowance) from AIChE.
Ø Contact for the Teacher Industry and Environment (TIE)
workshop.
Ø Updates signature card for section bank account.
Ø Reimburses all section expenses.
Ø Act as program chair if one is not assigned.
Ø Assist Chair in key leadership duties.
Ø Design program for following year with input and assistance
from other officers.
Ø Execute special projects as deemed necessary by the chair or
other officers.
Ø Monitor the board e-mail traffic and extract and edit tidbits that have general interest at various times during the month for posting to save section members from wading through bulletin board messages.
Ø
Monthly web posting of draft and revised section
newsletter/s.
Ø
Post job and other items on the website.
Ø
Respond to email traffic as appropriate.
